OUR VITAMIN A SUPPLEMENT Our vitamin A supplement provides 5,000iu (1.5mg) of high-quality vitamin A retinol per vegetable cellulose capsule.
WHY WE USE THE RETINOL FORM OF VITAMIN A? Studies show that some individuals have a genetic variant which may cause poor conversion between the carotene and retinol forms of vitamin A. For this reason, we use a high-quality vegan vitamin A acetate in our supplement. This is a type of preformed retinol, which means it is readily available to the body as it doesn't require conversion.
WHAT IS VITAMIN A? Vitamin A is a fat-soluble nutrient that occurs in two forms; carotene and retinol. The carotene form of vitamin A is generally found in plant-based foods such as carrots and sweet potatoes. The human body has to convert carotene into retinol before it can be utilised by cells.
WHAT DOES VITAMIN A DO? Vitamin A contributes towards a healthy diet in many ways. This includes the maintenance of normal skin and vision, normal function of the immune system, and the maintenance of normal mucuous membranes.
