What is REACH?
Registration Evaluation Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) is a new regulation of the European Union. Its purpose is to protect the environment and human health from the harmful effects and possible dangers that some chemicals bring with them.
Since the beginning of 2021, the REACH regulation has also been binding for tattoo, permanent make-up and microblading inks. The new rules apply to both the composition of the pigments and their correct labeling / declaration.
All BeautyCase pigments for permanent make-up and microblading are produced and labeled in accordance with the new legal requirements. So our customers are on the safe side and do not have to worry about REACH conformity. Upon request, we will be happy to provide you with our declaration of conformity.
Some ingredients that were previously used in the production of permanent make-up and tattoo colors have been finally banned under the REACH regulation. In the following, we list the decisive points that affect all permanent make-up and microblading masters:
Until now, the German Tattooing Agent Ordinance (TatV) has been decisive for tattoo and permanent make-up inks. In addition, the European resolution ResAP (2008) 1 "on the requirements and criteria for the safety of tattoos and permanent make-up" was applicable. With these ordinances, the minimum hygiene requirements during tattoo, permanent make-up and microblading treatments were primarily regulated. Some ingredients were already banned.
REACH is an EU regulation that was passed in 2007. It applies directly in all EU member states and concerns "Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals" and has created a comprehensive, standardized system for the classification of chemicals from all areas.
The new regulations primarily concern tattoo inks. Pigments for permanent make-up and microblading are less affected by this, it is only about the permissibility of a few pigments and the new labeling standards.
Appendix 13 of Annex XVII of the REACH regulation is decisive for the changes. Impermissible ingredients are listed there. This appendix was expanded on 02/04/21 by a supplementary ordinance with regard to substances from the areas of tattoo, PMU and microblading.
All pigments and other ingredients that are used in our BeautyCase colors for permanent make-up and microblading are 100% REACH-safe and can still be used.
We have also adapted the marking and labeling accordingly.
With our pigment inks you are still on the safe side! Have fun working and don't worry!
